those yet to come. That philosophy forms the foundation of Zayed National Museum. Through immersive exhibitions, multisensory experiences, archaeological discoveries, and contemporary installations, visitors are invited to trace the story of this land from ancient times to the present day. The museum explores the environmental, cultural, and historical forces that shaped the Emirates, revealing a narrative that extends far beyond the formation of the modern state and stretches back hundreds of thousands of years. Along the way, visitors encounter evidence of the ingenuity, resilience, and adaptability that have long defined life in this region. Artefacts from prehistoric settlements, Bronze Age communities, Islamic civilisations, and modern history help illuminate the many chapters that have contributed to the nation’s identity. Together, they tell a story of continuity — one in which the values of community, innovation, stewardship, and cultural exchange have endured across generations. The museum’s architecture reinforces this powerful narrative. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Lord Norman Foster and Foster + Partners, the building is crowned by five soaring steel towers inspired by the wings of a falcon in flight — a symbol deeply woven into the cultural fabric of the UAE. Rising above the landscape, these striking forms create an unmistakable presence on the Abu Dhabi skyline while serving a practical purpose, drawing air through the building in a contemporary interpretation of the traditional barjeel. 52 | Simply Abu Dhabi
